24 Hours in Rethymno, Crete

In the morning

You can start your morning in Rethymno with a relaxing walk on the coastal road of the city and then choose a waterfront cafe. There you can enjoy the beautiful view of the sea, drink coffee and eat your breakfast. Then you can take a walk to Fortezza to sea the view.

At Fortezza you can also see the Veterinarian fortress. The ticket is 4 eur. You will need a couple of hours to walk around and explore the place but is definitely worth it. Visiting the Veterinarian fortress you will enjoy the amazing view and dig in to Rethymno’s History.

Beautiful Beaches

For exploring the amazing beaches on the island we suggest you to rent a car or get information about the bus (ktel) schedules. You can take the morning bus to Plakias and swim to the beautiful clear waters. There are many beaches like Ammoudi and Ammoudaki, Kalypso, skinaria or damnoni and many others.

Afternoon and night

In the Afternoon you can take a walk in the alleys of the old town. You will find there the Historical and Folk Art Museum of Rethymnon and you can take a look to the traditions of Rethymno. Also visit the Church of St. Francis, which is one of the most important examples of Renaissance architecture in Rethymnon.

Of course you will find beautiful restaurants that called rakadika with delicious traditional food, wine and raki the traditional Cretan drink.

Rethymno city has a very entertainment and unique nightlife. You can visit the numerous bars at the coastal road, at the hidden spot inside old town and taste magnificent cocktails.
